Tragic Update on UPS Crash: Fatalities Rises to 13

The number of lives lost from the freight aircraft which burst into flames and plummeted has climbed to 13, as confirmed by official statements.

Mayor's Remarks

Traveling to the Teamsters’ candlelight gathering, I was informed of a 13th person that lost their life as a consequence of the UPS flight 2976 incident,” expressed the city mayor in a online message. “My heart are with the relatives, companions and peers of all who were lost in this recently occurred calamity. We will endure this collectively.”

Victims Named

A statement from UPS identified the pilots operating the jet as Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our sympathies go out to every employee who has been affected and all in our local region – supporting you and making sure you get the attention and aid you need is our main concern,” the organization’s statement read.

Probe Findings

National investigators revealed that the jet’s port side wing caught fire and an power plant fell off shortly after liftoff from the aviation hub, leading to the aircraft to crash and explode into a blaze.

The National Transportation Safety Board stated it is investigating the aircraft’s upkeep logs, that was in Texas for maintenance a period before the incident.

Aviation data revealed the aircraft was on the tarmac in San Antonio, Texas from 3 September to 18 October.

“We are knowledgeable that this aircraft was located in that city,” said an NTSB member on later, not giving a exact period. “We will review every piece of service that was done, even the San Antonio period, right up to the time of the trip.”

Findings of Critical Components

The pilot’s recorder and flight data recorder were retrieved, and the motor was found on the airfield.

The devices – known as black boxes – were constructed to survive crash impacts and severe fire from blazes, and they looked to be undamaged when located within the crash debris. Authorities intend to examining recordings from the black boxes.

The plane’s final recorded information displayed an height of 475 ft and a speed of 210 mph ahead of the accident.

Repair Record

Per FAA files dated last month, a crack on a part in the center wing fuel tank demanded maintenance.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which said it offers aircraft servicing for the carrier’s jet and runs a repair facility in San Antonio, declined to comment, but said it would assist completely when investigators contacted it.

Services Continue

At the same time, the facility activities restarted last night with its overnight or evening process, spokesperson a representative stated. The three landing strips at the airport were also reopened.

The distribution hub in the city is the company’s biggest. The facility employs over twenty thousand people in the locality, manages numerous aircraft daily and organizes over 400,000 items each hour.

Community Support

A memorial was held on the late afternoon of that date by the regional Teamsters Union, which represents workers at the aviation hub, the company’s biggest shipping facility.

Worker representatives, which supports UPS workers, began the vigil with a quiet tribute at that time, the estimated time of the accident before.

“This tragedy was so unexpected, so unexpected,” the leader addressed the crowd of 200. “No one had a chance to bid farewell to each of those who we have lost.”
